More context for an individual assessment of the athlete.
- Strength, power and endurance
- Recovery, tendons and bones
- Metabolism, caffeine and nutrients
A genetic panel that analyzes variants associated with muscular, metabolic and musculoskeletal traits. The findings are interpreted together with the clinical history, tests and training routine, as complementary information for the athlete's nutritional strategy.
What the panel analyzes
The panel analyzes genetic variants associated with muscular, metabolic and musculoskeletal traits. Its findings need to be interpreted together with the clinical history, tests and training routine.
- Strength and power: variants associated with strength, neuromuscular power and muscle fiber characteristics.
- Aerobic endurance: associations related to endurance and VO₂ max. Actual fitness requires a physical assessment.
- Muscle recovery: traits related to recovery after exercise and to muscle damage.
- Tendons, ligaments and bones: musculoskeletal associations and links with some injuries. The panel does not predict an individual injury.
- Metabolism and weight: associations with protein and fat metabolism, body weight and the insulin response to exercise.
- Caffeine and nutrients: variants related to the metabolism of caffeine and some nutrients, always assessed in the clinical context.
What the report looks like
The conditions analyzed are grouped into categories, such as the muscular system, bones, injuries, metabolism, hormones, nutrient needs and sleep. Each condition receives a level of genetic susceptibility, from low to very high, and a second part details the genes analyzed.
The report also includes associations with different sports and with the response to supplements used in sport, such as creatine, beta-alanine and whey protein. These are tendencies, not diagnoses: the results only make sense within the clinical assessment.
The test as part of care
In the consultation, we assess diet, tests and sports routine. For those who want to go deeper, we discuss the possibility of adding complementary genetic information.
- Understanding the routine: sport, training load, diet, sleep, symptoms, injury history and goals.
- Bringing the information together: clinical and nutritional assessment, body composition and laboratory tests, when indicated. Whether the panel is appropriate is assessed individually.
- Defining the nutritional strategy: meal planning and supplements, when needed, with follow-up of progress. Each genetic finding is weighed according to the available evidence.
Important: The panel does not diagnose diseases, prove nutrient deficiencies or set supplement doses. Nor does it guarantee better performance or injury prevention. Genetic information is complementary: it does not determine sporting talent, performance or the ideal training.
